You will need a Level 3 related hospitality and catering qualification for entry to this course.

In a nutshell

The City & Guilds Level 4 Diploma in Hospitality Management qualification is for those who work or want to work as a hospitality manager, head of department, kitchen manager, head chef, executive chef, front office manager, front of house manager, reception manager, accommodation manager, housekeeping manager, executive housekeeper, food & beverage manager, restaurant manager or bar manager in the hospitality and catering sector.

This course allows you to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the hospitality and catering sector.

This course is for you if...

....you currently work in the hospitality sector

....you are already in a management position or aspire to aim for promotion in management

....you are able to work independently

....you have a good level of literacy and numeracy

What will I be doing?

The qualification can be achieved within a two-year period and your assessor will help you decide which optional units to choose that are most suitable for you.

The qualification has a number of routes based on your job role and the units covered include:

Mandatory units which are:

  • Manage the performance of teams and individuals
  • Work as part of a hospitality management team to achieve strategic goals
  • Manage compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements in hospitality
  • Manage own professional development within an organisation

Optional units are within the job roles of:

  • Hospitality Supervision
  • Kitchen Management
  • Front of House Reception
  • Food and Beverage Service
  • Accommodation Management
  • General Hospitality Management

More details about your unit options will be discussed with your assessor. Units agreed will meet your job role and assessment opportunities.

What is expected of me?

You must already be working in the Hospitality and Catering industry.

You will be required to present evidence in a portfolio and manage this appropriately and in accordance with awarding body requirements.

A college assessor will visit you to conduct assessments and you must liaise with your assessor to arrange suitable dates and times.
