In a nutshell

These qualifications are for people working in or looking to work in assessment and internal quality assurance. These qualifications are open to people carrying out assessments and quality assurance in most learning environments including FE, Adult Continuing Learning, Employers and Third Sector. They are designed for anyone assessing and carrying out quality assurance in all occupational sectors, accredited learning, non-accredited learning (e.g. where performance is being assessed but the learner is not undertaking a qualification). This qualification is intended for those who assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the work environment (for example a workshop, classroom or other training environment).

This course is for...

For practitioners who assess knowledge and/or skills in vocationally-related subject areas who use the following assessment methods: assessments in simulated environments, skills tests, oral and written questions, assignments, projects, case studies and RPL. This may take place in training workshops, classrooms or other learning environments.

Course content

Learners can expect to cover a range of theories, policies and procedures designed to ensure sound assessment principles. Units include:

• Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
• Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, the qualification will be partly judged on observed assessments for two real learners on two occasions in a real training environment against approved standards/criteria so learners must work in an environment/setting where that is possible.

Additional information

This qualification is delivered in the workplace, not on campus for individuals to attend. Delivery dates are agreed in advance with you and your employer.

Learners will undertake one theory unit which looks at their knowledge of the principles and practices of assessment and one practical unit which covers how well they assess vocationally related achievement. This usually requires four meetings with your assessor and may take 3 to 6 months to complete (it is self-paced). A formal quote can be issued once we understand your training need but as a guide, we charge £815 per person.
