“Coleg Gwent is one of the only local colleges that do theFoundationDegree inVeterinaryNursing. Not many others do it!Knowing that the tutors arealsoveterinary nurses is great too. It helps as they understand the role and have experience in it!

Something I’ve really enjoyed about my higher education course is learning nursing styles and what I canactually doand achieve.I loved learning the science behind it all!My favouritepart isanaesthesia,as itis a massive part oftheveterinary nursing role.ButI loved it all to be honest. It wasdefinitely theright decision for me.

I wantedtobe the best veterinary nurse I can, byexpandingmy skills byworking indifferent practices and becoming a locum.I’venowstarted my own businessas alocum veterinary nurse, meaning I’mself-employed. I have a recruitment agent and an accountant, andI go around other practices and work when and where they need me.

If you want tostudy a university level course orbe a veterinary nurselike me, you must really want it.It’snot easy, but there ishelpto hand!”
