College guides girls into trade skills

Brownies of Gwent are adding trade skills to their sash of accolades thanks to Coleg Gwent. The group of 26 Brownies, part of Girlguiding Gwent, are brushing up on their paintwork, woodwork and plumbing skills as they work with the college to create their own bird boxes and fountain pumps to place in woodlands across the borough.

Photography is in the eye of the beholder

Our A-Level photography students from Blaenau Gwent Learning Zone attended The Eye International Photography festival at Aberystwyth Arts Centre recently. The three day festival, which takes place every two years, is founded by photographers for photographers and those who appreciate all forms of photography. The students listened to presentations by leading photographers and saw work on display in several on-site exhibitions.
