In a nutshell
The aim of this qualification is to recognise the skills, knowledge and competences needed for an individual to administer emergency first aid in the workplace. This includes being able to assess, diagnose and treat casualties before the arrival of medically trained staff.
This course is for you if...
You want to become a qualified first Aider in the workplace. This course includes Emergency first aid in the workplace and Recognition and management of illness and injury in the workplace.
What will I be doing?
The course involves a mixture of worksheets and practical skills.
Taken over 3 days, this course covers a wide range of topics including:

The roles and responsibilities of the First Aider

Assessing an incident

Recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness

Helping a casualty who is suffering from major injury and illness

Adult resuscitation CPR and the use of a defibrillator AED
-
Spinal injuries
-
Chemical injuries / attacks
-
Allergic reaction including anaphylaxis

Sprains, strains and dislocations
-
Asthma
-
Burns and scalds
-
Heart attack and angina
-
Head injuries
-
Minor and severe bleeding
You’ll undergo a practical assessment of competence, as well as needing to provide short responses to a prescribed series of questions. On successful completion, you’ll be issued with a First Aid at Work Certificate. The qualification will be valid for 3 years.
What is expected of me?
Full attendance is required for the 3 days of the course duration.
What comes next?
The First Aid at Work Certificates are valid for 3 years.

This course is available as a day qualification and as an evening qualification.
After booking your course you have 14 days to change your mind and request a full refund. You can still request a refund after this date, but this will only be given if you meet the criteria from the college fee policy.
If your chosen course starts within 14 days of you booking your place, then the 14 day refund policy does not apply and any refund will be subject to the college fee policy.
